EDUCATION
Shamsha Jiwa received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of British Columbia in 1986. She completed the Graduates Admissions Program with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1988, and obtained her Chartered Accountancy designation (CA) in December 1990.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Shamsha began her accounting career at Grant Thornton, Chartered Accountants as an articling student in 1987. She was appointed Senior Manager in 1994 and was responsible for auditing property management and real estate companies, managing an audit staff of seven and reviewing audited statements of operating costs with management.Shamsha left Grant Thornton in 1999, accepting the position of Controller at Martello Property Services Inc. She has set up accounting systems and controls to manage the over 100 Trust Accounts in the portfolio. She also ensures the smooth transition of accounting information for new properties. Shamsha ensures that all accounting information is maintained in accordance with the requirements of Owners, third party auditors, the Real Estate Council of B. C. and Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
In December 2004, Shamsha was promoted from her position of Controller to Vice-President Finance.
